About this practice ballot

This guide covers Grand Rapids and nearby Byron Township, East Grand Rapids, Gaines Charter Township, Grand Rapids Charter Township, Grandville, Kentwood, Walker, and Wyoming. Enter a ZIP code to narrow the precinct list. A ZIP code usually contains more than one precinct, so you still choose the precinct. Gaines Charter Township Precinct 7 has the full local slate from the Kent County list, including Byron Center schools, State House District 79, and State Senate District 20. Other precincts show the contests that are the same across this area. State House, State Senate, school board, and district court appear only when this guide has that precinct’s slate. It is a reference guide, not a certified sample ballot. Byron Township’s parks millage is not included. County commissioner, the township board, Kent ISD, and Kent District Library have no contest on the November 3, 2026 county list.

Names, vote limits, and proposal wording come from the Kent County Official Candidates and Proposals List for the November 3, 2026 general election, updated October 21, 2026 at 2:05 p.m. Biographies are short summaries of the linked public sources, not endorsements. If a reliable biography was not found, the profile says so. Street addresses and personal email addresses from the filing list are left out.

The county list has some unusual entries that are left as printed, including a filing date later than the list’s update time, a school-board partial-term heading also labeled “6 Year Term,” and qualified write-in filings dated October 22.
